Spring up for new Sherwood Pines Half Marathon & 10K

New Sherwood Pines Half Marathon & 10K

Following the success of their New Year race, Nice Work is returning to Sherwood Pines for a new Half Marathon & 10K on Sunday 29 March. Blow away the winter cobwebs at this spring event in stunning surroundings.

The Sherwood Pines 10K and 5K was a new event held in early January and a great start to the race season after the Christmas festivities. Positive feedback and the location led the organisers, Nice Work to create a spring version – the Sherwood Pines Half Marathon & 10K that is ideal for any runner looking to step up the distance. It is also useful if they have entered a marathon and need a ‘B’ race before then.

Runners can expect the same beautiful course as used in the January event, consisting of forest paths, trails and a few undulations but nothing extreme in the home of Robin Hood. There are the remains of an 18th century main coach road that led to the Great North Road and medieval heath land along with ancient boundary markers. These areas are used for walking, running and cycling as part of a range of activities at this forest park in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

The races start at 10am with a two lap route for half marathon runners and single lap for those doing the 10K. These will be marked and marshalled plus a sweep marshal will look after those at the back.

There are prizes for the top three men and women and age category winners: prizes for the winning men’s and women’s teams (three to score). Every finisher will be rewarded for their efforts with a bespoke medal and goodies.
