Starting For 10

Two Castles 10K

With news of a hung parliament following yesterday's general election, the focus is now on who's going to be in 10 Downing Street. The number 10 assumes a dominant role this weekend (10-11 June) with various 10ks across the region.

There are three 10k races on Saturday beginning with the Wollaton Park 10K and 3K Fun Run in Nottingham. The race starts at 10am with runners completing two laps of a 5k circuit in Wollaton Park.
Next up is the Run The Rock 10K and 5K, held on an off-road course in Longborrow Hall, Stokenchurch in High Wycombe. Starting at 10am, the route passes through an area of natural beauty that includes Red Kites with 'motivational' signage to keep everyone focused until the end.
It’s showtime at the Market Harborough Carnival of Running with 10k and half marathon options plus a relay challenge and a one-mile fun run. This is one of several events organised by Race Harborough who also stage cycling and triathlon activities as part of their community involvement.
There are several more 10ks on Sunday that include these two: Firstly, the Heyford Park Airbase Races, held on a fast, flat course in Oxfordshire. There is a choice of 5k, 10k or a half marathon along with junior races with a medal for every finisher.
Secondly, there's the Rotary Club of Kenilworth Two Castles 10K, which has grown in popularity to the extent a ballot system was used this year for the very first time. Entrants start at 9am from Warwick Castle along a traffic-free, tarmac course that finishes at Kenilworth Castle.
