Conditions weren’t particularly summery at the 14th Stratford Summer 6 on Saturday (22 July), as the heavens opened on competitors. The six-mile race, hosted by Stratford AC, started and finished at Mary Arden’s House, one of five properties cared for by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and gratefully acknowledged by the organisers.
Six was the best for the talented Daniel Studley with a win and new course record at the showery event. He recorded a 29:57 on an undulating course.
The Bristol & West AC runner is the 2015 English National 10K Champion and a five-time England Senior International with a string of road and track PBs to his name. Sponsored by More Mile, he aims to move up to half marathon distance and represent Team GB on the international stage.
Oliver Paulin of Coventry Godiva Harriers was second in 31:12 with Paul Andrew of Leamington C & AC only seven seconds behind in 31:19.
Laura Pettifer of Kenilworth Runners posted a sub-40 minute time, winning the women’s race in 39:02. Wendy Daniels of Leamington C & AC came second in 40:05 with Mistianne Feeney of Coventry Godiva Harriers third in 40:16. The last runner finished in 1:22:05.
