The Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon Events weekend is doing its bit for the planet with recycled Lucozade Sport bottles. This is one of several ways they are reducing their carbon footprint.
There is an eco-friendly ethos at this year’s Ikano Bank Robin Hood Marathon Events weekend (28-29 September). Organisers Goldline Events are aware of the environmental impact of this and their other races and as part of their commitment to a sustainable weekend, will provide Lucozade Sport drinks in 100% recycled plastic bottles.
These 380ml bottles are made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a completely recyclable plastic and are lightweight, flexible and hygienic. It is the most commonly used plastic.
Two Lucozade Sport stations will cater to runners of all ages and experience who will be taking part in the Mile Challenge (Saturday 28 September) and the Half Marathon, Mini Marathon and Corporate Challenge (Sunday 29 September). They are held on an attractive course in Nottingham and start/finish at Victoria Embankment Recreation Ground with a team of pacers to keep everyone on target for a PB.
Victoria Embankment is also the location for the race village. Runners, their friends and families can expect entertainment, catering, baggage tent, retail tent and sports massage/physio services.
The event’s green credentials are emphasised by race director Judith Manson who says: “This is a big step forward in our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our races.”
