Do you want to showcase your team spirit (or do you have a competitive instinct) - why not take part in Decathlon’s Coventry Half Marathon Company Challenge, sponsored by HBT Communications and The Coventry CORE. The event, scheduled for Sunday 28 February has already seen a number of local businesses commit to the challenge with many runners planning to fundraise for a charity of their choice.
Jamie Warren at GO2, comments: “The Company Challenge has proved to be a great way to inspire a workplace, set a challenge and motivate employees to be active and take part in a great community event! We are extremely pleased that we have a number of local businesses taking part in the challenge again this year, and would encourage any runners looking for that extra bit of support and motivation for the event, to consider the Company Challenge. It’s also a great opportunity for some healthy industry competition between rival companies!”
The half marathon has witnessed a sizable upturn in popularity with over 3,500 runners - almost double that of 2014 - competing in this year’s race. Tom Doe took top place in a tight finish, crossing the line in a time of 1:10:20. The women’s field was similarly competitive with Emma Styles securing first in 1:23:30, closely followed by Amanda Deavy (1:23:44).
For 2016, runners will start and finish in the prime position alongside Coventry Transport Museum, next to the race village in Millennium Place. Runners then took a loop of the city centre on closed roads before heading out through Radford and on towards Allesley.
