This Saturday (28 October), everyone is invited to become a creature of the night and walk or run 5K for Hope House Children’s Hospice. The event will take place in Telford Town Park with goody bags and a Halloween ‘glow in the dark’ medal for everyone.
The fourth year of this award-winning event, the Dark Run 5K is about people getting together and having fun while helping to raise funds for a worthy charity. The organisers emphasise it is not a race; there is no chip timing, pacers or prizes for the fastest finishers. Instead, entrants will be given glow sticks and asked to bring a head torch or carry a torch as they make their way around the park. There is UV face paint for anyone who wishes to be a fluorescent marker and stand out from the crowd.
Night runs are becoming increasingly popular and this one is no exception with people travelling from across the UK and abroad. Over 400 participants are expected on Saturday evening and the organisers are keeping their fingers crossed for dry weather!
The 5K (and a 2.5K option) is suitable for individuals and families who will follow an illuminated route around the park with additional help from a team of marshals, ensuring everyone stays safe while enjoying the event. Water will be provided at the finish and the park’s Visitor Centre will be open with access to all its facilities.
Dark Run 5K starts at 6.30pm near the Visitor Centre in Telford Town Park.
