Birmingham’s NEC was filled with over 8,500 runners getting into the vibrant spirit of The Color Run. Starting as a blank canvas and finishing head-to-toe in every colour of the rainbow, Saturday’s (15 August) event attracted runners from across the city and beyond for what is termed as the ‘Happiest 5k on the Planet.’
Since launching three years ago, the technicoloured 5k has gained widespread recognition, with over 300 events taking place across 50 countries. Each participant embarked upon the 5k with a clean, crisp, white t-shirt before being splattered from head to toe in paint from all the colours of the rainbow.
In celebration of their efforts, ‘Color Runners’ enjoyed some live music from Capital DJs at the festival finish. James Robinson, managing director of the event organisers, said: “Birmingham never disappoints, we always have so much fun here because everyone truly embraces what The Color Run is all about - healthiness, fun, friendship and a celebration of happiness.”
The Color Run will next head to London (for a night time showing) on 5 September, followed by Sunderland (20 September) and Brighton (10 October). More information on these is available here.
