Registration closes this Thursday (10 August) for the Eden Hall Spa Newark Half Marathon. There could be a battle for the remaining places in this historical race.
Entries Close Soon For Newark Half
The Eden Hall Spa Newark Half Marathon was a sell-out success following its re-launch in 2016 and the organisers hope this year’s race (Sunday 13 August) will be as equally well-received. A fast, flat course on mainly closed roads is one of the several attractions along with four water stations, finisher’s T-shirt and medal and gift vouchers for first and second places in all age categories.
The location is another plus factor as the half marathon starts and finishes in the picturesque Sconce and Devon Park – the site of a 17th century English Civil War earthwork fortification and trail. The route continues past an Ice Age Journey dig in Farndon and Elston, the birthplace of the Darwin family and home to main sponsor Eden Hall Day Spa.
There is a 2k fun run for families, which starts at 10.15am and offers a medal for all finishers. All proceeds will be donated to charity partner Beaumond Community Hospice, who are supporting the event, and runners are invited to fundraise for them or a charity of their own choosing.
The event is organised by four running clubs: Newark Striders, Notfast RC and Fernwood RC with sponsorship from CoeMedia, Newark Interiors, Middlebeck and Sports Clinical.
