Last Chance To Enter Oxford Half

Action from Oxford HalfA sprint finish is needed to enter the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon as standard entry closes online at midnight tonight (Monday, 12 September). However, some charity places are still available and volunteers are also required to make the race on 9 October 2016 the best yet, with more than 10,000 registered entries.

Runners dreaming of personal bests in the City of Dreaming Spires will be pleased with the subtle course changes this year. The start line has been moved from St Giles to Broad Street to improve the race experience for both runners and spectators. The rest of the course is fast and flat on wide, traffic free roads.

Jamie Warren, race organiser GO2, said: “This is set to be a real stand out half marathon in the running calendar, and has been designed with race experience in mind. With a huge uptake and the last few places selling out fast, this year is going to be the biggest yet! To guarantee your place on the day make sure you sign up before midnight on Monday, 12 September!”

The official race charity partners are Macmillan Cancer Support and Oxford United Community Trust and there are a range of other national and local charities connected with the race that will have spaces available for fundraisers.

Another way to get more involved with this exciting event is to volunteer and all individuals who help on the day will be rewarded with a T-shirt, breakfast and free entry to another GO2 event as a thank you. The roles available include course marshals, start and finish marshals and rewards marshals to congratulate runners and hand out medals and goody bags.

Standard entry is £38 for club members and £40 unaffiliated. Full details are on the Vitality Oxford Half Marathon website.
