Meridian Foods, the UK’s leading producer of nut butters, has been announced as title sponsor of the prestigious Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday September 25, 2016. The sponsorship deal sees the race re-named the Meridian Windsor Half Marathon and will ensure the race in iconic Windsor Great Park continues to grow in its 34th year.
Standard entries for the Meridian Windsor Half Marathon, which attracts 6,000 runners every year, closed last week but places are still available with platinum charity partner CLIC Sargent; gold partner Cancer Research UK; silver partner Help for Heroes and a range of bronze partners.
The Windsor Running Festival weekend starts on Saturday 24 September with the Boudavida Women’s 10K with entries available at the Running4Women website. Entries are also taken on the day and race benefits include start timing gates with pacers, race T-shirt and medal.
The Meridian Windsor Half Marathon now starts at 10am following runner feedback and includes the fabulous start and finish on the ‘Long Walk’ towards Windsor Castle. Race director, Peter Hier, says: “We’re thrilled to have Meridian Foods as the main sponsor for the half marathon. We’re proud to align ourselves with a brand which so passionately encourages healthy eating and lifestyles.”
Sue McIntosh, Head of Marketing at Meridian Foods, said: “The Windsor Half Marathon is located in such an iconic setting and the event holds such respect with runners across the region. We’re excited about the partnership, and look forward to working with the event to encourage active lifestyles and healthy eating – some of our team will even be taking part, donating £1000 to our chosen charity, the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation.”
